Session 1: September 19

The theme of this session is ‘EXPECTATIONS.’ In Session A, we talked about what’s expected of the students; starting from the top:

• God expects you to accept the gift He’s offering you. What that ‘gift’ is is what this program is all about.
• The Holy See: Expects you to know, understand, and follow the tenets of our faith. See the Credo for a partial list.
• The Community of Holy Family: Expects you to take your rightful place among us.
• The Formation Program: Be here, be present, keep an open mind and heart.
• The Catechists: Ask questions, learn, be open to new things.
• The Group Leaders: Be respectful of one another and of all those around you. Be an example to others. Participate.
  

We also did the ‘bound together’ activity with a ball of yarn and a few minutes. This icebreaker lets us see in a tangible way how we are all interconnected and how even one of those connections is vital for the whole.

In Session B the students got a chance to express their expectations of the Church, their family, their teachers, their peers, and their parents. As we work through the semester, we’ll be referring back to these expectations, and the instructors will be looking to see how we can meet those expectations.
